Paula Badosa Gibert is a right-handed professional woman tennis player from Spain. She is one of the challenging contestants in the WTA Tour. Significantly, she upset World No.1 Ashleigh Barty in straight sets at the 2021 Volvo Car Open’s quarterfinal.

On 15th November 1997, Paula Badosa was born in New York City, the United States. When she was seven-year-old, her family moved to Spain. Since then, she lives and trains in Barcelona near her hometown Begur in the Costa Brava. Meanwhile, Badosa was introduced in Valencia from 2011 to 2014 to improve her game.

Paula Badosa’s Junior Career 

At the age of 14, Spaniard made her ITF junior circuit debut in September 2012. She won three singles and one doubles junior titles, including the girl’s singles title at the 2015 French Open. Badosa was especially ranked World No.8 in the singles category during her junior career.  

Paula Badosa’s WTA Career 

As a wildcard entrant, Badosa made her WTA Tour main draw debut at the 2015 Miami Open. Therein, she registered her first two WTA Tour-level victories before falling to Karolina Pliskova in the third round. 

In the 2020 French Open, Paula Badosa reached the fourth round after defeating two former Grand Slam champions, Sloane Stephens and Jeļena Ostapenko. It was her best-career performance in the Grand Slam events.

In 2021, Badosa reached the Lyon Open, Volvo Car Open and Mutua Madrid Open semifinals. Notably, she became the first Spanish woman to make the semifinals in Madrid WTA 1000 event.

Moreover, Paula Badosa won her first-ever WTA tour-level singles title at the 2021 Belgrade Open in Serbia. And She claimed her first WTA 1000 title at the 2021 Indian Wells Open(BNP Paribas Open 2021).

 Who Are Paula Badosa’s Parents? 

Paula Badosa parents are mother, Mireia Gibert, and father, Josep Badosa.  Both are interested in the fashion industry and run a brick and mortar clothing store in Begur, Girona, Spain.
