Great Britain NextGen Emma Raducanu will meet the Olympic Gold Medalist Belinda Bencic for a semifinal spot at the US Open 2021. Speaking ahead of the Swiss quarter-final showdown in New York, the 18-year-old revealed that she feels confident about her game, but the upcoming match will be arduous.
Raducanu came to the limelight after reaching the four-round at the 2021 Wimbledon championship. She made her Grand Slam quarterfinal debut in Flushing Meadows after defeating Shelby Rogers, Sara Sorribes Tormo, Zhang Shuai, Stefanie Vogele and Mayar Sherif without losing a single set.
“I know Belinda. She has a lot of experience on tour. She’s in great form, having won Olympic gold. I’m also feeling good about my game, also confident with the number of matches I’ve played. I feel like I’m building with each one,” Raducanu said in the post-match press conference.
Brit added, “It will be a tough match. I know if I’m going to have a chance, I’m going to have to play some excellent tennis.”

When asked about Raducanu in the post-match interview, Belinda Bencic explained, “Of course, she’s up and coming and has an amazing talent. I didn’t see much yet how she played, but what I saw is definitely that she’s very athletic, she’s moving great, and, I mean, she has great results.”
