After several setbacks, the 2019 Champion Bianca Andreescu is excited to be back again to compete at the US Open. The 21-year-old Canadian revealed that she got goosebumps and reminisced the old memories when she stepped into the Louis Armstrong Stadium, New York City.

Andreescu had a terrific season in 2019. She claimed the back-to-back titles at the Indian Wells Open, Canadian Open and US Open. Later on, she completely missed the 2020 season due to her knee injury.

After 15 months of hiatus, Bianca resumed action at the 2021 Australian Open, but she has had a drought season instead of reaching the final at Miami Open.

However, World No.7 feels confident ahead of the US Open 2021 and said she wanted patience to reach her destination.

“I got goosebumps when I walked onto Armstrong the first day. It just brought me back to 2019. It’s nice to have those feelings going into a tournament,” Bianca Andreescu said in a pre-tournament interview in New York.

The Canadian continued, “I feel like I’ve been looking too much at results just because of how well I was doing in 2019. I have to tell myself I’m not the same person back then as I am now.”

“That’s all I can really say, play matches, continue to train hard, prepare well, prepare mentally. I’m trying to stay patient. If I do all of that, I know I’m going to get back to or get to where I want to be,” Bianca added.

At the US Open 2021, No.6 seed Bianca Andreescu will face the 2021 Wimbledon quarter-finalist Viktorija Golubic of Switzerland in the opening round. Canadian has a win-loss record of 13-9 in this season.
