Simona Halep stormed into the sixth quarterfinal of the season following a straight-sets(7-5, 6-3) victory over Aliaksandra Sasnovich at the Linz Open 2021. However, she was pleased with this revenge win and expressed gratitude to fans.

A month ago, Halep fell to Sasnovich in straight sets(5-7,4-6) at the Indian Wells Open. Nonetheless, Romanian has now gained revenge over the Belarusian and leads 2-1 in their head-to-head series.

“I think she changed her game a little bit, she played a little faster and flatter and it was very difficult to return those balls, which didn’t even jump too much,” Simona Halep said in the post-match interview.

Former World No.1 added, “she changed the pace and started to be a little more aggressive, and I took a step back, and I became defensive.”

“Thank You Fans, It’s Always Nice To Have Their Support”, says Simona Halep

Two-time Grand Slam champion continued, “I hope that I will return better and that I will open the field more because I think that today I played more in the middle.”

Halep also emphasised, “But overall, I think we played a good game. I lost to her a few weeks ago, so it was great to be able to win today.”

“Thank you fans, it’s always nice to have their support, great support, that gives me energy. Thank you for coming and I hope to see you tomorrow,” Simona expressed.

At the quarterfinal, No.2 seed Simona Halep will face No.7 seed, Jasmine Paolini. Moreover, Halep leads Paolini 1-0 in their head-to-head series. The Romanian defeated the Italian in straight sets(6-3, 6-4) at the 2020 Italian Open round of 32.
