Former World No.1 Simona Halep magnificently stormed into the first final of the season at the Transylvania Open 2021. She dispatched Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk in straight sets(6-0, 6-1) before reaching the championship match in Cluj Napoca. 

The host will lock horns with No.2 seed Anett Kontaveit in the final on the indoor court. It will be the fourth meeting between them in the WTA Tour.

“It’s a dream come true for me, I wanted to reach the final. It’s my home tournament, I always play well when I come here. I’m motivated, I’m happy and I can barely wait to play tomorrow’s final,” Halep said in the post-match interview.
