Ons Jabeur is a professional woman tennis player from Tunisia, situated on the Mediterranean coast of Northwest Africa. Righty reached a career-high ranking of No.24 on 10th May 2021 and is a current No.1 African woman tennis player.

Ons Jabeur was born on 28th August 1994 in Ksar Hellal, a town and commune in the Monastir Governorate, Tunisia. Her parents are father Ridha Jabeur and mother Samira. She has two older brothers Hatem and Marwen, and one older sister Yasmine. Jabeur married the former Russian-Tunisian fencer Karim Kamoun.

Ons Jabeur’s Junior Career 

Jabeur’s mother loves playing tennis and introduced tennis to her younger daughter at the age of 3. Ons has practised nearby home tennis clubs and hotels courts until 12-year-old. Later on, she moved to the capital Tunis to train at the national-sport high school. Afterwards, Tunisian trained in Belgium and France for several years.

In August 2007, Jabeur stepped into the ITF junior circuit. She made her junior Grand Slam debut during the 2009 US Open and won the junior girls singles title at the 2011 French Open. As a result, she became the first Arab girl to win a junior Grand Slam singles title in history since 1964. 

Ons Jabeur WTA Career

Jabeur turned into a professional tennis player in 2010. She has won 11 singles titles in the ITF circuit so far. Tunisian made her WTA main draw debut at the 2012 Qatar Open as a wildcard entrant. She has reached two singles WTA finals: the 2018 Kremlin Cup in Moscow & the 2021 Musc Health Women’s Open in Charleston.

The 2020 Australian Open quarterfinal appearance is her best performance in the Grand Slam events.
