Apart from their rivalry, Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki are known for their friendship in the women’s tennis circuit. American and Danish have often been sharing admiration for each other.
While the 23-time Grand Slam champion has a 3-year-old daughter Olympia Ohanian, the 2018 Australian Open title winner expects a baby girl in June this year.
However, Wozniacki spoke about several things, especially the evolution of women’s tennis, in the recent WTA interview, one-on-one with Chris Evert.
Venus Williams and Serena Williams have brought women’s tennis to another level. They have won 30 singles and 14 doubles Grand Slam titles and 3 Olympic Gold medals so far.
Talking about Williams sisters, Caroline Wozniacki said, “Serena and Venus, of course, which I also had a different style of play and a lot of power, and they came onto the scene. However, It was so interesting to see just where this tennis was going, and both Venus and Serena obviously are still playing, and that’s incredible.”
Caroline Wozniacki Has Huge Respect For Serena Williams
At the 2017 Australian Open, Serena Williams claimed her 23rd Grand Slam title after defeating her sister Venus Williams in straight sets in the championship match. Notably, she did not give up a single set throughout the event and was roughly 8-weeks pregnant with her daughter, Olympia.
The 30-year-old retired tennis professional from Odense continued, “I said Serena, I already had obviously tremendous respect for you and for what you’ve achieved but also what you’ve done off the court, but I’ve got to say now I truly understand what it means to be pregnant and winning a grand slam like I don’t understand how that’s possible. I literally felt like I was dying.”
Ahead of the French Open 2021, Serena Williams has recently begun her preparation on a clay court under her coach Patrick Mouratoglou supervision.
