Simona Halep, one of the Women Tennis circuit stunning performers, is preparing herself for the upcoming Down Under Summer Tennis Series in Adelaide. Meanwhile, the second player of the world has revealed her goals for a new season.
While Romanian tennis stars are known for their clay courts skills, the 29-years-old woman from Constanta is a genuine allrounder, and the example is her 2019 Wimbledon crown.
In a recent interview, Former World No.1 Halep unveiled her main goal for the 2021 season and admitted that every tournament is significant.
“The ambition, I can say, is every tournament I play. I always said that every tournament is important to me and that I don’t count some tournaments more important than the others. So when I go to a tournament I want to give 100 percent”, Simona Halep said.
Having played once at the Olympic Games, Halep might be a flag bearer for Romania at the Tokyo edition.
The 2018 Roland Garros champion continued, “But now, you don’t know what’s going to happen the next week, so you have to be focused 100 percent for what you have that week. I learned from last year that you have to live every day. The main goal is a medal at the Olympics to compete at the highest level, but every tournament is a goal for me this year.”
“My Goal Was Not Just To Win A Tournament Or A Slam”, says Simona Halep
When speaking about her remarkable achievement, Simona expressed, “This news is huge. It’s an honour. This will make me smile all day today, maybe all week. Consistency becomes different from player to player. You never know the mentality of the player.”
Having two Grand Slam titles under her name, Halep emphasised that playing tennis is not only for crowns.
Romanian added, “My goal was not just to win a tournament or a Slam. Of course, every player in the top wants to win a Grand Slam. I wanted that badly. I wanted to be No.1 badly. But it came as a package, not as the one focus. I think that’s why I could be consistent over the years.”
We hope that Simona Halep would continue this form for many more years.
