The 16-years-old American tennis sensation Coco Gauff advanced into the second round of the Adelaide International 2021 after a three sets(6-4,6-7,6-2) win over Italian Jasmine Paolini on Tuesday.
Even though Coco reached the fourth round of the Melbourne Park major event last year, Gauff exited earlier from the Australian Open 2021 after a straight-sets second-round lost against No.5 seed Elina Svitolina.
Still, Gauff does not depart from Down Under and extending her winning streak at the South Australian state capital’s WTA 500 event.
Before entering Adelaide International’s main draw list, the World No.52 from Florida overcame Francesca Jones and Kaja Juvan in her qualifiers round 1 and 2.
At the coastal city opening encounter, the 2019 Linz Open title winner was forced to play the third round by World No.99 from Italy. While Gauff easily won the first set, Paolini claimed the second set after saving a match point.
In the decider, emerging star Coco Gauff played in her way and took away a set from the 25-years-old just after losing two games[6-2]. The NextGen American landed seven aces while Gauff saved eight out of eleven break points she faced in the first round.
