Even though the coronavirus cases seem to be under control in the country after its peak in February, the sports authorities remain cautious regarding the events taking place in the country.
Furthermore, the Chinese Basketball Association became the first professional sports league to resume its operations in the country in June, on the other hand, the top-tier soccer league (CSL) will kick off its 2020 season later in July, after a delay of five months.
Although, the GAS (China’s General Administration of Sport) told Reuters, “there is no definite answer yet” on the fate of the tennis tournaments in China. In conclusion, waiting is the only option we have regarding the WTA tournaments to take place in China this year!
