Top-seeded Simona Halep has confirmed her place in the third round of the French Open 2020. She bested her compatriot Irina-Camelia Begu without losing a set in her previous match. However, Romanian feels confident in front of the American Amanda Anisimova encounter.
After the 83-minutes battle against a fellow player, Halep is now enjoying this season with a 16-0 win streak. And while world number two won titles at the Italian Open and Prague Open in tennis tours resumption, she lifted a title at Dubai Tennis Championships in February.
Speaking about playing against her countrywoman, Halep said, “I think the best thing that I do is once I step on the court I don’t think, I don’t, I’m not thinking any more against who I am playing, even if it’s Romanian or not.”
She continued, “It’s a little bit of stress before the match, but I am confident, I know what I can play, I know how I can play, so I didn’t feel too nervous. I just feel nervous at the beginning, but then I just forget about who I play and I just try to win the match.”
“I Remember The Match From Last Year”- Simona Halep
Whereas Halep lost her quarterfinals match to Amanda Anisimova during the 2019 Roland Garros, She reminisces memories with American for the upcoming clash. And also, the 25-seeded Anisimova leads the 2018 title winner in head to head 1-0.
Additionally, Halep said, “It’s one year between, so it’s going to be a little bit tough to explain now how it’s going to be. But I’m going to talk with the coach, I know it’s going to be tough because she’s(Anisimova) hitting the ball strong and flat, so it’s going to be tough.”
Recalling her old match memories, former world number went on to say, “I remember the match from last year, I remember also that I didn’t play what I wanted, so I will do some changes and I will just try to play better and to take my chance.”
