Dominic Thiem, one of the upcoming young tennis stars, plans his schedule for the forthcoming events. The Austrian won his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open this year.
Unfortunately, he could not keep that momentum going in the French Open and lost in the quarter-finals. After taking a short break, the 27-year-old is back again and training for the events he plans to be a part of.
He has Vienna, Paris-Bercy, and the ATP Finals in London on his tournament calendar for this year. He will aim to give in his best after an unfortunate ending at the French Open.
“I’ve Never Played Such A Strong Tournament”: Dominic Thiem
According to Thiem, Vienna is always a big goal every year. Hence he wishes to focus on that the most. He plans to go in for rigorous training for a couple of days and come out of it in top form.
“Vienna is a very big goal every year, so I only concentrate on that.”, Austrian said. “I will go into the bubble tomorrow, have three or four good days of training on the field and see that I get close to mine again for Tuesday I’m in top form. That will be necessary for this field this year.” Thiem added.
The field at Vienna has seven top ten players and a cut-off of 27. It seems crazy to Thiem and has left him completely speechless. He never imagined playing such a strong and high ranked tournament.
“I think I’ve never played such a strong tournament. It’s absolute madness.” said the current world number three.
Thiem also mentioned that he would like to play doubles again with Dennis Novak in the town hall. Moreover, after talking about future events, Thiem wants to decide only after Vienna how he wants to plan his Paris and London goals.
