“This Time I Won’t Have Djokovic or Federer”- David Goffin Reveals His New Hope of US Open

World number ten David Goffin reached the round of 16 at the ongoing U.S.Open in Flushing Meadows. Belgian will now play Canadian Denis Shapovalov at the quarterfinal decider. Meanwhile, seventh-seeded Goffin hopes for his maiden U.S.Open last-eight appearance this year.

David Goffin reached the fourth round after defeating Filip Krajinovic of Serbia in the straight sets on Friday. However, 29-years-old Goffin qualified for the U.S.Open fourth round in the fourth time in his career. Earlier, He played in 2017, 2018, and 2019 as well. In particular, David Goffin was defeated by Roger Federer in the straight last year on the same.

While Swiss tennis great Roger Federer did not play this year U.S.Open due to injury rehabilitation, the Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic will face off Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta in his fourth-round match. Accordingly, David Goffin comes to say he has a way to reach the U.S.Open quarterfinal this year. 

Former world number seven David Goffin said, “I am very happy with this performance, especially since I have the feeling that I have been able to improve my level of play compared to my first two matches. It is proof of a beautiful regularity.”

Additionally, the 2017 ATP Tour finals runner up explained, “I hope to take another step this time because it is the only Grand Slam tournament where I have never reached the quarter-finals. It would be nice to get there. And this time I won’t have (Novak) Djokovic or (Roger) Federer.”

David Goffin leads Denis Shapovalov in head to head by(1-0). On the other hand, the Canadian will also try to make his first US quarter-final appearance as well. As a consequence, the Belgian needs to work hard to attain his goal. Notably, both of them are offensive baseline players.
