“There Is No Vaccine, It Will Be Very difficult”- WTA President On The Resumption Of Tennis



While tennis players and fans curious about the reopening of the tennis tours all around the World. However, the president of the women’s tennis association(WTA) Mickey Lawler denies resumption of tennis and says, Without a vaccine, it will be very difficult to travel and play tournaments.

On the Interview with Radio La Red, Argentina WTA President spoke over the resumption of international tennis tournaments.

Mickey Lawler explained, “What I know is that everything is being done to play again. It is not easy. As long as there is no vaccine, it will be very difficult to travel and play. If the US Open is played, there will be tournaments that will be played before. next two weeks they will define what will be done with this.”

“It Is Time To Take Advantage Of Working Together”- Mickey Lawler on ATP-WTA Merger

Coronavirus showdown the tennis tours in mid-march and the hiatus will continue at least until mid-July. Consequently, lower-level professional tennis players would have been unable to make ends meet.

Nevertheless, tennis legend Roger Federer called for the ATP and WTA merger. “Just wondering … am I the only one thinking that now is the time for men’s and women’s tennis to be united and come together as one?” Former World No.01 Federer said on Twitter. “I am picturing a merger between the WTA and ATP.


Mickey Lawler also spoke of the possibility of a union between the WTA and the ATP (Association of Professional Tennis Players). “This is not the first time that a union between the WTA and the ATP has been discussed. Right now, due to the coronavirus, it is time to take advantage of working together. Tennis is in its best form when there are men and women, she concluded.
