On the other hand, Daniil Medvedev has had nothing short of a dream run in the year-end tournament. He has brought his A-game to the table and been successful in carrying his rich vein of form through.

The Russian has run through opponents like Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic, and Diego Schwartzman. The fact that he has done it in straight sets on all three occasions speaks about his dominance thus far.

The 24-year-old staged a comeback for the ages in his semi-final match. He rallied from 3-6, 4-5 down to topple Nadal.

While Medvedev went winless in his debut at the Nitto ATP Finals last year, Thiem goes into the Final with one Grand Slam under his belt. It will be interesting to see how they look to produce their best one last time in season 2020.
