“Simona Is Still Young, She Can Still Win A Lot,” Says Former Roland Garros Champion

Former Romanian professional tennis star was also the 8th best player in the world during her time. Later, she returned to tennis by becoming the manager of her compatriot Simona in the year 2008.

The 1978 French Open champion Virginia Ruzici recently shared her experience in an interview with Ubitennis.

The former tennis player and manager recalls her managerial days with Halep. Virginia Ruzici said, “I became the manager of Simona thanks to an Italian, Cino Marchese. It was he who called me in 2008.” She further explained, “I didn’t want to be a manager anymore because I had worked for IMG for five years, and instead … “. “She(Simona) Played The Game Of Her Life”- Ruzici On Wimbledon 2019 Finals

Sharing about Halep, she believes that the former world number one played the game of her life in the final of Wimbledon 2019 against Serena Williams. However, she said, “the first very hard matches were decisive, they allowed her to get to the bottom in the optimal condition.”

Further, Ruzici opined of Simona as someone who still can win a lot. She adds, “Simona is still young. She will be 29 in September.” Also, the 65-year old said, “I don’t see her playing till 38. But she can still win a lot.” Virginia also believes that Halep will be competing in her early or mid-thirties.

Former World No.08 Virginia Ruzici said, “I don’t see her doing what Federer or Serena do, world-class at 38, but I’m sure she’ll still be competing for the biggest prizes in her early-to-mid thirties.”

Adding on to this she also said that Halep is a huge fan of Gheorghe Hagi. Additionally, Hagi is the greatest Romanian footballer of all time. Besides, Halep’s trainer Darren Cahill is living in Australia. However, they can work via teleconference. Although, World Number two has planned to compete in the Palermo Ladies Open next month.
