The Swiss Maestro Roger Federer surprised the whole tennis community through his unique tweet over a merger of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and the men’s Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). On Wednesday, King Roger asked his 12.7 million twitter followers, “Just wondering, am I the only one thinking that now is the time for men’s and women’s tennis to be united and come together as one?.”  

Meanwhile, The Mighty Federer got support from WTA  top players Simona Halep, Petra Kvitova, Garbine Muguruza, Belinda Bencic, Donna Vekic, Bethanie Mattek Sands and Founder Billie Jean King.

“Now is the time to merge the Governing bodies”- Roger Federer

Federer, the winner of a record 20 men’s Grand Slam crowns, is not intervening over rival between the men and women players on the tournament. The 38-years-old has proposed a full merger of the men’s and women’s tennis governing bodies(ATP & WTA)

Roger tweeted, “I am not talking about merging competition on the court, but merging the 2 governing bodies(ATP and WTA) that oversee the men’s and women’s professional tours”

WTA players support for King Federer

Wimbledon Reigning Simona Halep is the first player to give a thumbs up for Roger Federer proposal tweet over WTA and ATP merging. Romanian replied seems “You are not alone, We are with you”

Former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova conducts motion of confidence in Roger suggestion tweet.

WTA Founder Billie Jean King endorsed with Roger Federer merger proposal. Billie wrote: “I agree and have been saying so since the early 1970s. One voice, women and men together, has long been my vision for tennis. The WTA on its own was always Plan B. I’m glad we are on the same page. Let’s make it happen.”
