“She’s Done Nothing Wrong at All”- Djokovic Urges His Fans to Stop the Online Abuse of the US Open Line Judge



US Open,2020, which is currently underway recently saw what can be called a sensational event. The news spread like wildfire when the world number one was disqualified from the tournament owing to his ignorant act. It all happened when a ball hit by Djokovic ‘s out of frustration, hit a female line judge directly on her throat.

This event made headlines almost everywhere and received a number of different views. Most of the people understood that the situation was just an accident and showed concern towards the judge’s good health.

But some others apparently weren’t happy with the situation, which lead to the disqualification of the 33-year-old from the slam.


People started blaming the linesperson for the exclusion of the Serbian. She started to receive a lot of hate along with death threats and abuse as a Serbian newspaper revealed her name.

Following this, the 17-time grand slam champion, spoke up to calm down the people and reinforce that the judge was not at fault. He twitted on his office regarding the event pleading everyone to stop all the negative comments.

“Dear #NoleFam thank you for your positive messages. Please also remember the linesperson that was hit by the ball last night needs our community’s support too. She’s done nothing wrong at all. I ask you to stay especially supportive and caring to her during this time.”, He wrote.


Djokovic who has remained undefeated this whole year urged his fans to support the linesperson in such times and not spread hate but positivity.

“From these moments, we grow stronger and we rise above. Sharing love with everyone. Europe here I come.”, he added.

Djokovic who was striving for his fourth US Open title before his exit will be next seen in Europe. This incident left many people sad and some angry but will be learning for the matches to come.
