“She Has Many Good Things”- Maria Sakkari Showers Praise On Coco Gauff For Her Quick Response At W & S Open 2020

While American rising star Coco Gauff lost her opening match at the Western and Southern Open, besides 16-year-old has once again gained praise for her quick response, from the opponent Maria Sakkari who is currently ranked No.21 in the world. 

World No.49 Coco Gauff and 13-seeded Maria Sakkari met the first time in their professional career at Cincinnati Open. Followed by, 65 minutes of the rally, the Greeks defeated the American in the straight sets(6-1, 6-3).  

However, the match-winner Sakkari admired her opponent Gauff in the post-match interview. Maria said, “I think one thing that I like about her that not many girls have is that she’s quick, and maybe I like that because I’m also quick. We are not many on tour.

But of course, she’s really young and she has many good things already in her game, and I’m sure that she’s going to — she has a lot of room for improvement in a good way, so that’s going to take her on a very high level.”, Greeks mentioned.

Sakkari also added, “But, you know, having the right tactic with any player, you know, gives you the best result. I think that was the key.”

Moreover, Coco Gauff agreed she did not play well against an experienced player. Gauff also said she is going to mesh up this match experiences with preparation for the upcoming US Open.

Additionally, Gauff explained, “Definitely today was not my best match. I could have played better. She came out strong, hitting her shots. I didn’t really have good responses to those. I’m just going to use this match to kind of prepare for the US Open. I have a whole week before that, and I’m going to take what I did today and learn from it.
