Rafael Nadal’s Coach Picks Novak Djokovic As Favourite Player For ATP Finals 2020

Former world number one Rafael Nadal is still searching for a title at ATP Finals. Francis Roig, the coach of King of clay, believes his pupil has a little bit more chance than ever before this year in London. On the other hand, 52-years-old has picked Novak Djokovic as a favourite player to win the title at 2020 London Masters.

In a recent conversation with COPE, the retired professional tennis player from Spain Francis Roig discussed a lot of stuff about the ATP Finals 2020. Speaking about Rafael Nadal has practised with Novak Djokovic at O2 Arena. The coach explained, “it is unusual”. He also said that everyone wants to share the court and train at the centre. 

Roig added, “which is where you are going to play, and it is a little different to play on a small track. You train with people who are not in your group and with whom you do not play in the whole tournament.

Novak Djokovic is a five-time champion and now chasing his sixth crown and Roger Federer records at the ATP Finals. Serb also has outstanding strike rates at the hard surfaces, mostly indoors. 

Serbian has secured 13 titles at the indoor tournaments so far. Nole won his last title at the ATP Finals in 2015 and followed by he finished as a runner up in 2016 and 2018. Additionally, he is having 39-3 win-loss record this year.

Asking about his favourite player for this year London masters, Coach Roig expressed, Djokovic is the favourite, for the second I already have more doubts, maybe Medvedev.”

Francis also emphasised Nadal played excellent at Roland Garros. He feels if Rafa played a few more matches at fast track, it would have been good for him. Coach added, “Nadal arrives with nothing to lose. He is calm. It has been a good year because he has won a Grand Slam and he is going to try to do his best.”
