Tennis players continue to show Solidarity with those impacted by ruthless violence. Following the death of an African- American in the police custody, protests sparked throughout the United States. Consequence, Everyone from the tennis world holding hands with protesters across the world in the Black Lives Matter. Meanwhile, US Open Reigning Bianca Andreescu raised her voice against injustice.
As a 19-years-old Canadian tennis player, Andreescu wrote on her social media pages systematic Racism needs to be addressed immediately.
“Racism has no place in society. It’s heartbreaking to see the many innocent lives lost due to the color of their skin. I don’t understand the society we’re living in that doesn’t value ALL human life. Racism is a learned and systematic behavior and one that we need to address immediately.”
“I do know that we are all equal”-Bianca Andreescu
At this moment, Bianca takes Jesus, Nelson Mandela, and Public Speaker Eckhart Tolle’s words to express her view on racial discrimination.
“Nelson Mandela once said “People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate they can be taught to love. For love comes more naturally to the human heart than it’s opposite.” Let this be a pillar for LOVE. I’ll never know what people of color go through but I do know that we are all equal in the face of Jesus Christ and he has taught us to treat one another as we are all one. Together, let’s all do our part, take action, and speak up against injustice!!!”
Although, Andreescu is a believer in Jesus Christ, being revealed for the first time in the 2019 US Open final when she made the sign of the cross on the court after beating Serena Williams.
