“Proud of You”: Roger Federer Gives A Heartwarming Tribute To NHL Star Roman Josi

Swiss legend Roger Federer expressed his appreciation and love for the compatriot NHL player Roman Josi after being awarded the Norris Trophy.

While Roger Federer is one of the greatest tennis players with various records, the 39-year-old is equally loved by the athletes from other sports. And Federer never fails to pay the proper tribute to them, even more, when they are from his very own nation.

Roman and Federer have now been friends for a long-time. And on the day of 23rd September, John Cooper, the Mayor declared the day as Roman Josi Day. Additionally, Josi received various congratulatory messages from his teammates, and a mini-event was also organized. 

The Nashville Predators captain, Josi, also received a heart-warming message from none other than great Roger Federer, who considers himself the ‘biggest fan’ of Josi. Roman Josi won the James Norris Memorial Trophy for his fantastic performance in the NHL during 2020. Additionally, Josi is also the first Swiss to be given this award.

Federer wrote, “Hello, it is Roger Federer here. I wanted to congratulate Roman Josi on winning the Norris Trophy for the best defensive player of the year in the NHL. Additionally, the former tennis world number also said, “And I am a big hockey fan myself for a long, long time, and I just wanted to send my best regards here from Switzerland.”

Moreover, Federer did not shy away from expressing his happiness for his compatriot. Instead, the man with 20-Grand Slam titles to his name said, “He is the first Swiss man also to do so. And Roaman’s always been a big fan of mine, well for, for a long time. I know Roman for over ten years now, but today I am your biggest fan, Roman. I am so happy for you. And I am so proud of you and all the very best for your future.”
