Selected as the greatest female tennis player for the years 1975 through 2005, Martina Navratilova has some serious advice for the male players out there! According to the 63-year-old, Novak Djokovic can already be seen dominating this season of the US Open.

The current world number one remains unbeaten in 2020 till now and has been performing well at the Western and Southern Open as well. Moreover, He reached the quarter-finals courtesy of a 6-2, 6-4 win against American Tennys Sandgren.

In the Czechoslovak’s opinion, Djokovic will obviously be the favorite out there, especially in the absence of Nadal and Federer. Though claiming the tournament to be easier without them would be disrespectful.

Navratilova

“He would be the favorite anyway, as the No. 1 player in the world, and now with both Rafa and Roger not being there, he would be a big favorite, I would think.”, Former world number one told Tennis.com.

The American also seems confident about the Serbian’s preparations and his hardworking personality.

“His preparation is so meticulous. He leaves no stone unturned. With the new situation, I’m sure he would have had his team put their heads together and really try to find the best way to prepare under the circumstances.”, she added.

“Now there’s nothing to concern him there so he can concentrate on just playing”- Navratilova

Djokovic departed the US Open last year with many fans in the stadium showing dissatisfaction towards the 17-time grand slam champion after he retired injured.

Referring to such situations, Navratilova said that playing without an audience might be better and beneficial for him.

Martina said, “He would get into it with the crowd. Now there’s nothing to concern him there so he can concentrate on just playing, not get upset that the crowd’s not on his side.

I agree with him, he doesn’t deserve the level of non-support he gets. Anyway, it will be a little bit easier for him to stay focused in a way.”, She concluded.
