“No More Than 1000 Fans” In A Day At Berlin Exhibition Tennis Event

In the middle of the Coronavirus Pandemic, the German capital Berlin has scheduled to take place an exhibition tennis tournament next week. Meanwhile, Tour organizers announced that they should follow the strict hygiene and social distancing norms. Moreover, no more than 1000 fans will be allowed in a day.

Berlin exhibition tournament director Barbara Rittner explained, 1000 fans will allow watching the matches. One of the outdoor grass courts will hold at the Steffi Graf Stadium with 800 fans. Another one will play at the indoor stadium of Tempelhof Airport with 200 fans.

“When we host the tournament in mid-July, there will be a strict hygiene concept that we will coordinate with the Berlin Senate. We will have around 1,000 spectators at the Steffi Graf stadium and around 300 in the hangar at Tempelhof” said 47-year-old Barbara Rittner.

It will become the first fans participating in sporting events in Germany amid the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier, Other sports events as Bundesliga football and basketball leagues resumed without fans in stadiums.

An exhibition tournament will play combine men’s and women’s events. It includes WTA top players Petra Kvitova, Elina Svitolina, and Kiki Bertens.

German Fedcup Captain Barbara Rittner said, “Of course, regardless of the Adria Tour, we can also get a message at any time that a player has tested positive and cannot play. We can only ensure that the strict requirements are adhered to as correctly as possible and ensure that further planning is not jeopardized”.

ATP World No.1 Novak Djokovic’s Adria Tour series in Serbia and Croatia brought controversy in the tennis world.
