“My Plan Is To For Sure Go To Australia”: Andy Murray Gives Updates on His Schedule



Andy Murray was exited earlier from the French Open 2020 after the opening round loss against rival Stan Wawrinka on Sunday. While the 33-years-old is looking play as much as he can before the end of the 2020 season, He will next play in two ATP 250 events in Cologne. 

The first Germany event will begin on the next day of the ongoing Paris major event conclusion(12th October). Alexander Zverev, Gael Monfils, and Roberto Bautista Agut will be the other major contestants at the indoor tournament.   

Besides, former world number one Andy Murray said, “I know tournament-wise, I’m going to try to play as much as I can between now and the end of the year.”


“The plan is to play in Cologne, the two tournaments there. Probably the only positive of today is I will get more time to prepare on the indoor hard courts for that,” he added.

Even though Murray did not play during the inaugural edition of the ATP Cup earlier this year due to injury, he glimpsed one of the significant events in the ATP tour. This year ATP world team cup event staged across Australia(Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth). 

Speaking about his ATP Cup, Murray said, “We don’t know exactly what the rules are going to be for Australia, but it’s looking like you’ll have to get there very early to prepare for that.” 


He continued, “As it stands, I wouldn’t make the ATP Cup team, but my understanding is they are looking to put an ATP event on in Australia at the beginning of the year, so that’s currently what I would be doing. I’d like to play in the ATP Cup because I was supposed to last year, and it looked like a great event.”

The Australian Open officials have to hope to stage next year’s event in Melbourne. On the other hand, the five-time event finalist Murray also is looking for the exact time to cross the country border and prepare himself.

Murray explained, “My plan is to for sure go to Australia. I just don’t know exactly what the exact situation is in terms of what date we would have to go because, by the sounds of it, it’s pretty early, I think. You’d have to go like mid-December.”
