2011 US Open Champion Samantha Stosur has some exciting news for us. Australian became a mother to a cute little girl last month on the 16th of June with her partner Liz Astling. They named their new child Genevieve.

Stosur took to Instagram to announce the birth of her daughter and posted a cute picture with Liz and their daughter. “Life in lockdown during coronavirus has been challenging in many ways but personally it’s been one of the most exciting and happy times of my life. On the 16th of June, my partner Liz gave birth to our beautiful little girl, Genevieve. It has been a whirlwind time but we could not imagine life without her now.

Mum and Evie are doing well and it’s so amazing to be home with them both….”, the Australian player wrote. Moreover, Andy Murray and Olivia Rogowska are amongst many others who congratulated Samantha on becoming a mother.

The New Mum Samantha Stosur Has Not Confirmed Her Participation in the Upcoming Tennis Tours

Looks like Stosur is enjoying her time with her newborn and soaking it all in before she has to get back on the court! Though she hasn’t announced when she will return to International Tennis Tours.

Samantha became the Grand Slam Champion at the 2011 US open after defeating former world number one, Serena Williams. Consequently, She became the first Australian woman player to win a major tournament title since Evonne Goolagong Cawley in 1980.

Stosur was also the top-ranked Australian singles player for 452 consecutive weeks, from October 2008 to June 2017. She reached her high-rank number four in February 2011. Samantha qualified for finals in 2019 Roland Garros. She also won three times Grand Slam doubles title in French Open, US Open, and Aussie Open.
