“It Depends On Restrictions”- Simona Halep Doubts On Playing The US Open 2020

World Number Two Simona Halep won a two Grad Slam title in the clay and grass courts. She has been looking for a hard court grand slam. On the other hand, Simona Halep admits playing on the US Open will be a little difficult.

However, the Romanian is afraid to make it to the US Open this year. The event will begin on 31 August in New York. It will be the second Grand Slam of the year.

The tennis authorities decided to call off Wimbledon this year due to ongoing pandemic. Moreover, the French Open also postponed to September in place of May. USTA officials will hold the event behind closed doors in Flushing Meadows.

Simona Halep replied when asked about her chances to play in the event,” It will be a little difficult, it depends on restrictions.” She further added she was, “a little worried about to make that move.”

Besides, Romanian Tennis ace is hungry to play tennis in the courts. The whole tennis tours suspended for almost more than three months. Eventually, Tennis tournaments will resume on 3rd August at the Palermo Open in Italy.

Moreover, Halep aims to play in an Italian tennis tournament. Former Roland Garros Champion believes she needs few matches before participating in the Major tournaments, having been away from the court for more than five months now. “Now I’m hungry again. I want to travel and play tennis. This period helped me believe I have a few more years ahead.” Halep added.

While many found new hobbies during the lockdown period, Simona was busy just doing the “normal stuff.” She said, “Cooking is not my thing. I have read books, listened to music, and have been active in the internet world.”

She further added, “It was the longest break without tennis in my life”.  She goes on to say that now she is refreshing and wants to come back to the court and live more years in the tennis world.
