Serena Williams sets a clash with sister Venus Williams in the Top Seed Open at Lexington in Kentucky. The younger Williams defeated compatriot Bernarda Pera by 4-6, 6-4 and 6-1 in the first round of the tournament yesterday.  Additionally, this was the first match for Serena since the restart of the game. 

Additionally, Venus will be entering into the second round by successfully defeating Victoria Azarenka by 6-3, 6-2. 

Serena Williams, after her hard-fought win, said, “It’s good just in general because I haven’t played. A lot of people have been playing. But I have only done some training. So this was really good for me.”

“I Won The Match Today Because I Was Calm For Once In My Career”- Serena Williams

Besides, Serena Williams also said that the atmosphere was very calm for her without the spectator. “It was a very chill atmosphere. I cannot say that I disliked it. Moreover, I didn’t mind it at all. I think I won it today because I was calm for once in my career”, she said.

Venus Williams, the elder sister too is happy and excited for the clash with Serena in the second round. After knowing that she will play against Serena Williams, she said, “I want to play the best players and I think I got my wish.”

In addition to this, Venus Williams also stressed the fact that it was difficult to make a comeback after not playing for so many months. She shared, “We just need to walk out there. And hopefully, we will play well. I think we both played good games. I think the game is perfect for me.”

Williams Sisters will both face each other on Thursday, which will additionally be there 31st meeting in tennis.
