“I Still Don’t Feel Comfortable To Travel”- Elina Svitolina Pulls Out Of US Open 2020

One side, USTA is preparing for the upcoming US Open 2020 in Flushing Meadows. On the other side, top players pull out toll increases on the board. Right now, the world No.05 Elina Svitolina has also announced her withdrawal from the US Open 2020. 

In the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic, the U.S.Open is scheduled to take place from 31st August to 13th September in New York. While USTA has announced a lot of safety measures for players, but several top players are not willing to take risks.

While Ash Barty and Rafael Nadal will not play in the U.S.Open 2020, Besides, Simona Halep and Novak Djokovic have doubts about their participation.

The last year event semifinalist Elina Svitolina has decided not to play the U.S.Open 2020. Moreover, Ukrainian announced her decision through her twitter post. She wrote on it, “Considering all the aspects, I have decided not to play the US Open 2020”.

Elina Svitolina also mentioned “I want to thank the USTA, organizers, and WTA for giving the players a chance to play and the fans a chance to watch this great event. I understand and respect all the efforts they are putting to make it happen in a safe environment, but I still don’t feel comfortable to travel to the US without putting my team and myself at high risk.”

Eventually, She has wished the participants of this year’s event, “Best of luck to everyone, Until the next year’s U.S.Open”, Svitolina added.

Moreover, Elina Svitolinan showed her best performance at the US Open 2019. She lost to event runner up Serena Williams in the straight sets at the semifinals.
