Former world number one Kim Clijsters made her second comeback at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships earlier this year. Followed by She has been participating in the WTA tournaments as a wild card entrant. Meanwhile, the Coronavirus pandemic put a barrier in her return continuation. 

In the middle of the pandemic, Four-times Grand Slam Champion Clijsters returned to tennis tours through World Team Tennis(WTT) in the United States. Subsequently, Belgian received a wild card for Western & Southern Open in New York. Moreover, She arrived in Flushing Meadows a few days ago.

Kim Clijsters Pulled Out Of The Western & Southern Open

Kim Clijsters has withdrawn from this year’s W&S Open due to an abdominal injury. Notably, She became champion in the same event in 2010.

Moreover three-times US Open champion quoted “I am grateful to Western & Southern Open for the opportunity to play the tournament once again. I have grateful memories from playing in Cincinnati and was looking forward to being a part of the event this year. It’s disappointing to have to withdraw but after discussions with the medical and my team, I need a little more recovery time.”

Additionally, She also added, “I am grateful to be able to stay in the “bubble” and continue to prepare with my team here at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.”

The mother of three Clijsters aims to play at the US Open 2020 for the reason that she would like to stay in the bubble.
