“I Hope To Start With Palermo”- Simona Halep On The Resumption Of Her Tennis Tour

Former World Number One Simona Halep has not participated in the tennis tours since February. For the reason of her right leg injury and the coronavirus self-isolation, she has not come out from her house for a while. However, Simona Halep hopes to start again at Palermo ladies ’open. 

The whole tennis tours suspended from mid-march due to the Coronavirus pandemic. After more than three months of tennis hiatus, tennis governing bodies recently released an updated provisional calendar for the remaining 2020 season. According to the WTA calendar, Women’s tennis tour will begin on 3rd August in Palermo, Italy. 

While two time Grand Slam Champion has no clarty in her participation in the US Open 2020. She hopes to start her tennis tour inside Europe.

My life has changed. Everything is different now. The fact that I did not travel was also an advantage because I could rest more, I wanted this. It’s hard without tournaments, I miss them, I hope we can travel quietly again soon because it’s a little worrying. I have not made a final decision regarding the return to the circuit, but I hope to start with Palermo ” said Simona Halep, quoted by Digi Sport.

Although, Palermo lady’s open tournament organizers have already sent an invitation to the 2018 Roland Garros Champion Halep.

Simona Halep’s First Win After Comeback At Winners Cup 

Followed by the four months of home rest, World Number Two Simona Halep has played in the Romania domestic tennis tournament. She has participated in a mixed doubles match with Horia Tecau in the Winners Cup refreshment event. Eventually, Simona Halep and Horia Tecau pair defeated Gabriela Ruse and Marius Copil in the straight sets(6-3, 6-4).

In 2020, Simona Halep won her 20th WTA singles title at the Dubai duty-free tennis championships in UAE. She also reached semifinals at the Australian Open 2020 in Melbourne.
