“Hopefully, I Can Keep Going”- Naomi Osaka Moves a Step Closer to Her Third Grand Slam at US Open 2020

Former world number one Naomi Osaka has qualified for the US Open semifinals second time in the last three years. Additionally, a Haiti-Japanese tennis star admitted she is really happy to be in the semifinals in the ongoing New York major. 

In the round of eight, fourth-seeded Naomi Osaka overcame the American Shelby Rogers without losing a single set(6-3, 6-4). As a consequence, the 22-years-old Osaka sets up a clash with 25-years-old Jennifer Brady in the finals decider on Friday(11th September) in Flushing Meadows.

World number nine Naomi Osaka replied when she was asked over her comfortability at the US Open, “I don’t think a person can ever be truly comfortable. But for me, I’m aware that I worked very hard to be in this position. I’m aware that the opponents that I play from now on are going to be very tough.”

Besides, She said, “For me, I think the last two Grand Slams, everything happened so fast, I wasn’t really in the moment. I’m just really happy to be in the semis, and hopefully, I can keep going.”

While both are equal to each other in their head to head record(1-1), Naomi defeated Jennifer in the straight sets(6-4, 6-4) at the last meeting in the 2018 Volvo car open Charleston.

Moreover, 2018 US Open champion Naomi Osaka answered a question about being a favorite player for the upcoming match while the opponent Jennifer Brady is not yet lost a single set in the US Open 2020.  

Additionally, Osaka replied, “No, I don’t feel like the favorite weirdly enough. Because there are no fans, I don’t feel anything. I just feel like I’m going into a match with a really talented player, which is all of my previous matches anyway.”

“For me, I remember watching her. I watched her match against Putintseva earlier today. I know she’s a big threat.”, the two times Grand Slam winner concluded.
