“He Must Be In A Great Shape In Comparison With Other Players”- Russian Tennis Chief On Daniil Medvedev’s Preparations For US Open

Shamil Tarpischev, the Chief of Russian tennis believes that the 2019 US Open finalist Daniil Medvedev is ready for the tournament once again. He believes that Medvedev is preparing efficiently for the competition and will like to win his first Grand Slam title.

While various tennis professionals are in confusion regarding participation, world number five is most likely to play. 

Tarpischev said to TASS, “Taking into account the fact that he was in France, he had a great opportunity to train with his coach.” Additionally, Daniil Medvedev was with his coach from the starting of the pandemic in France.

Further, Tarpischev added, “He must be in great shape in comparison with other players. He could perform well in the US Open. But it is too early to make any predictions. We don’t really know the physical shape of other players.”

With No Nadal, Federer, and Wawrinka In The Competition, Daniil Medvedev Will Look To Win His First Grand Slam

The US Open will start on 31st August. However, many top players will not play in the tournament due to the pandemic. Tennis professionals like Spanish legend Rafael Nadal and Swiss Stan Wawrinka have already struck their names off.

Last year US Open was nothing less than a fairytale for Daniil Medvedev. Moreover, it was his best performance. However, his dream to win the title at the Flushing Meadows was brought down in the finals by Rafael Nadal.

This time, in the absence of top players, Daniil Medvedev will like to use the opportunity to win the Grand Slam. However, he will still have to win it against world number one Novak Djokovic. The other player who could be a threat to Russian is world number three Dominic Thiem.
