Serena Williams has been struggling to win her 24th Grand Slam title since she returned to the circuit after giving birth. And while the 39-years-old played finals twice at Wimbledon and the US Open, She did not claim a single title. However, Patrick Mouratoglou, the coach of 23 times major titles winner, is confident that his pupil can win Grand Slam titles.
Former world number one played her first match after the birth of her daughter at the World Tennis Championship in September 2017. Followed by American began the Grand Slam title hunting journey at the 2018 French Open.
Eventually, She won her first WTA singles title at the ASB Classic earlier this year. In the 2020 US Open, the host lost a semifinal match in the three sets to Belarusian Victoria Azarenka.
“She(Serena) Still Feels She Can Win Grand Slams”: Coach Patrick
Mouratoglou emphasised his student has no intention for retirement as of now. On the other hand, the famous coach said that the current world number eleven player still stays focused on to break Magaret Court’s Grand Slam record tally of 24 titles.
Speaking about Williams in a recent interview with Olympic channel, Coach Patrick Mourtoglou said, “Serena’s goals have not changed since she returned to tennis after giving birth. She still feels she can win Grand Slams. If she also manages to win Olympic gold, she will be extremely happy because it is an incredible achievement for every athlete.”
Frenchman also explained that the past three years have been disappointing even his student reached four Grand Slam finals, but she did not manage to lift the trophy.
However, Serena missed opportunities to win her 24th title at the recently concluded Flushing Meadows and Roland Garros major events. But, Williams will have a great chance to win the title at 2021 Australian Open if she had prepared well.
