World No.03 Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic turned 28th on Saturday. She was born with her twin sister Kristyna Pliskova on 21st March 1992, Louny, Czechoslovakia. The Czech played her first WTA qualifying at Prague in 2006
Pliskova played almost six years under the Junior category of Women’s tennis from the age of 14 old. Ultimately, Karolina won the two junior championship titles in Australian Open 2010 And Canadian Open 2010 respectively.
First WTA title for Karolina Pliskova
Karolina won her maiden WTA title at Malaysian Open 2013. The unseeded player defeated several seeded players to reach the final of the International Tournament. In the final match, She overcame the United States Player Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the three sets(1-6, 7-5, 6-3).
To date, Ka Pliskova claimed 16 WTA titles and was the finalist at 12 WTA tournaments. Last but not least She reached semifinals at WTA Tour Finals in 2017, 2018, & 2019 seasons.
Most Women’s singles title Winner in Brisbane International
The Czech won the three titles(2017, 2019 & 2020) and two in the row at Queensland Tennis Center, Which is part of the Australian Open series.
In 2020 The tournament, Karolina beat Ajla Tomljanovic(AUS), Alison Riske(USA) and Naomi Osaka(JAPAN) to reach the finals. For the title match, 2nd Seeded conquered the 8th seeded Madison Keys of the United States in the three sets(6-4, 4-6, 7-5).
Karolina Pliskova’s Grand Slam Journey
Pliskova made her main draw Grand Slam debut at the French Open 2012 through qualifier rounds. However, In the first round, she lost to Marion Bartoli in the straight sets.
Pliskova’s best results in the Grand Slam was Runner Up in the US Open 2016. In the finals, She lost to Angelique Kerber of German in the three sets. Earlier rounds, notably Karolina defeated William sisters in the same event. Also, She reached semifinals at Roland Garros 2017 and Aussie Open 2019 respectively.
Career Highest Ranking
In 2015, Karolina Pliskova entered the WTA top 10 meanwhile she reached her career highest rank of World No.01 position in July 2017. Pliskova is the first player from Czech to attain this level and the sixth player in the World, Who is without won a single Grand Slam title.
