“Diego Is An Amazing Player”: Rafael Nadal’s Coach Lauds Schwartzman Ahead of Semifinals Clash at French Open 2020

On Friday, Diego Schwartzman and Rafael Nadal will face each other for the second time in three weeks. They last met at the Italian Open’s quarter-finals, where Schwartzman had a surprising win over the defending champion by 6-2 7-5.

Nadal made many unforced errors and lost a couple of his service games, which led to his defeat. The results were surprising for many as the Spaniard had won all nine previous meetings against Schwartzman.

Carlos Moya, Nadal’s coach, reviewed the match too and found the results strange.

Coach Carlos Moya said, “The defeat in Rome was very strange because Rafa had won two very good matches against strong opponents. Against Schwartzman, it was the first time he had trouble scoring, and he didn’t handle it well physically or mentally. We learned from that moment, and now he’s at a very good level with a lot more games played.”

“We Have Weapons That Will Allow Rafa To Compete With Guarantees”: Coach Moya

We will be witnessing another thriller as the two will meet again on Friday at the French Open Semifinals. The question will be whether the Argentine will be able to do it again or no? Nadal will be aiming for his 13th French Open title and his 20th slam title to equal Roger Federer.

The 44-year-old, former world no.1, is optimistic about Nadal’s current form and believes that he has the required ‘weapons.’ According to him, the Argentine is a fantastic player, and it would be an epic fight.

Coach continued, “It will be a tough mental battle, and I think we have weapons that will allow Rafa to compete with guarantees. It will be very difficult duel as we saw in Rome.”

“Diego’s game against Thiem yesterday was amazing, and I think even Diego could have won more easily. Diego is an amazing player, and we don’t think the physical factor will have too much influence,” Carlos concluded.

Everybody is just waiting for Friday now!
