While the US Open is going to begin from the next month, many integral players may not play in the tournament. Additionally, the winner of the last two US Open events have opted to not participate in Cincinnati Open. The tournament is going to start a week before the bigger event of the U.S.Open 2020.
Naomi Osaka and Bianca Andreescu would not participate in the Cincinnati event. Additionally, five of the eight players from the last Masters have decided to not play in the event.
Moreover, Naomi and Bianca have still not registered for the Cincinnati Open. And only a few days remain to complete the registration. The event is now relocated to New York, instead of Cincinnati. Further, a total of three players out of the top ten are not participating in the competition.
Players To Miss The Cincinnati Open
Top players such as Simona Halep, world number one Ashleigh Barty, and world number five Elina Svitolina will also not compete in the same event. Additionally, Simona has already opted out of the Palermo Open.
Moreover, Angelique Kerber said that the last thing that she would do now is traveling to New York for the US Open event. While the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic was improving in the city, a recent sharp increase in the number of patients in the country has put the officials in a state of doubt.
While the final decision on the organizing of the Flushing Meadows is still on a wait, many players may decide to skip it. Additionally, the decision to hold or conduct the event will come out next week. Though, the same was initially to come by the end of this month.
While Cincinnati Open will start from 15th August, the U.S.Open 2020 may begin from 31st August. Additionally, the former will end on 21st August.
