“Serena Is Such A Great Champion That Inspires Both Male And Female Athletes Worldwide”: Djokovic

Williams won her 23rd Grand Slam title at the 2017 Australian Open. Since then, Serena has played in the 11 Grand Slam event, but she did not win a single title. Notably, American reached four finals and two semifinals in the last two years.

When speaking about Serena’s 24th Grand Slam thirsty, Novak Djokovic said, “When you’re chasing big things related to the history of the sport, obviously it has a lot of weight, a lot of pressure. And regardless of the number of years you have played on the tour and the experience you have, you still feel it on your shoulders.”

I can empathise with Serena and what she is going through. She’s such a great champion that inspires both male and female athletes worldwide in what she has been doing. I mean, still doing at her age is extraordinary,” the 17-time Grand Slam champion added.

“I Heard Serena Was Also Emotional In The Press Conference”, says Novak Djokovic

After a semifinal loss at this year’s Down Under major event, the former World No.1 Serena Williams left from the middle of a press conference with eyes full of tears.

The eight-time Australian Open champion continued, “I’m sure she’s disappointed. I heard she was also emotional in the press conference. And, you know, regardless of all the success that she had, you know, I know that when you lose a big match, you’re emotional. Of course, it’s completely understandable.”

“But I think when you see a larger picture for her and everything she is, what she stands for on and off the court, it’s–I mean, she’s one of the greatest ever. I mean, there is no doubt, athletes, not just a tennis player,” Djokovic concluded.

We hope that Serena Williams will win one more Grand Slam crown sooner and level Margaret Court’s record tally of 24 titles.
