Stefanos Tsitsipas is a professional men’s tennis player from Greece. Monte Carlo resident was born on 12th August 1998 in Athens, one of the oldest cities in the World and the capital and largest city of Greece. Righty reached a career-high ranking of World No.5 on 8th March 2021.

Tsitsipas’ parents are his father, Apostolos Tsitsipas, who studied tennis coaching at the University of Athens to help train his children and his mother, Julia Apostoli, a former professional tennis player from the Soviet Union and Greece.

Stefanos has three younger siblings: brothers Petros and Pavlos and sister Elisavet. All of them are also none others than tennis players. And his Grandfather Sergei Salnikov was a 1956 Olympic Gold medalist in Football.

Stefanos Tsitsipas’ Junior Career 

Tsitsipas’s parents introduced tennis to him at the age of three. He started to take tennis lessons at home near the tennis club at the age of six.

At the age of 14, Stefanos entered the ITF junior circuit in 2013. He began to train at the Patrick Mouratoglou tennis academy in 2015. 

Thus, 2016 was a beautiful year in Greek Stalwart’s young career. He claimed his first Grade A title at the Trofeo Bonfiglio in Milan, Italy. As a result, Tsitsipas became the No.1 player in the ranking.  

Later in 2016, Tsitsipas reached the semifinals at the Wimbledon and US Open and captured the boy’s doubles title at the championships in London. Consequently, he became the first Greek man to win a junior Grand Slam in the Open Era. Notably, he hunted the European championships as well. 

Stefanos Tsitsipas’ ATP Career 

Tsitsipas turned into a professional career in 2016. After several challenger matches, he made his ATP main draw debut at the 2017 Rotterdam Open as a wild card entrant. Greek won his first title at the 2018 Stockholm Open after defeating Latvian Ernests Gulbis in straight sets in the Championship match. 

Afterwards, Stefanos won titles:  2019 – Marseille Open, Estoril Open and ATP Finals. 2020 – Marseille Open. 2021- Monte Carlo Masters and Lyon Open. 

Incredibly, Tsitsipas reached his first-ever Grand Slam final at the French Open 2021 and semifinal at the Australian Open and Wimbledon fourth round and US Open third round in Grand Slam events.

Tsitsipas is 6 feet and 4 inches(193 cm) tall Greek man. He speaks Greek, Russian, English, and a bit of French, Chinese and Spanish.

His father, Apostolos Tsitsipas, is his main coach since childhood. His mother, Julie, was his first coach. He was named 2018 ATP Most Improved Player of the Year. And Stef shares his birthday(12th August) with another Greek origin tennis legend, none other than Pete Sampras.

Tsitsipas is a supporter of Milwaukee Bucks, an American professional basketball team based in Milwaukee, and his countryman Giannis Antetokounmpo. He is also a fan of AEK basketball and football teams. 

Stefanos Tsitsipas’ hobbies are travelling with friends, photography, video editing and anything creative. And he hosts his Youtube channel, where he often uploads his travelling relevant videos.
