In all American final at the ATP Houston 2022, Reilly Opelka defeated John Isner in the straight sets(6-3,7-6) to capture his fourth ATP Tour-level title and first on clay.
During the one-hour and 50-minute Servebots clash, Opelka hit 10 aces and Isner 8 aces and both won nearly equal percentage of first-serve points.
“He was my idol growing up as a kid, and before I even met him, I liked him. But since we’ve become such good friends and spent so much time on Tour, I like him even more now,” Reilly Opelka said of his compatriot John Isner during the title presentation ceremony in Houston.
Further, Opelka expressed, “He’s been an unbelievable role model for not just myself, (but) Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe and Tommy Paul. We all say the same. He’s been an unbelievable competitor for a long time.”

Moreover, It is Reilly Opelka’s fifth consecutive win against John Isner and now leads him 5-1 in their head-to-head series.
