After the US Open final defeat, Serbian legend Novak Djokovic has come back to action at the Rolex Paris Masters 2021. Having only a few tournaments ahead to the season conclusion, the 20-time Grand Slam champion announced his goal that he would fancy finishing the year as a World No.1.

Djokovic is ranked No.1 with 10,340 points, while Daniil Medvedev is standing in the second position with 9,540 points.

“The year-end No. 1 is on the line between Medvedev and myself, and I’m in a pretty good position,” Djokovic said in the recent interview.

“That’s obviously the goal for the end of the season other than trying to do well in the Davis Cup with the national team. So hopefully I can have a strong finish of the season and clinch that year-end No. 1.”

“I Have Had Plenty of Success In Paris-Bercy Over The Years”, says Djokovic

Novak is a five-time champion at the Paris Masters. And he won titles in 2009, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2019 on the Bercy indoor hard courts.

Serb continued, “I’m pleased to be back. I have been training really well [the] past couple of weeks. And I have had plenty of success in Paris-Bercy over the years, so that gives me enough reason to believe that I can do well, and I can go far in the tournament.”

“But having said that, the lack of match play could be dangerous, so I have to really make sure that I start off my first match very well with a good intensity and build my form as that match passes on and hopefully get a win and get myself more comfortable on this court and just getting that match play in,” the six-time year-end No.1 concluded.
