2020 US Open champion Dominic Thiem suffered from knee and wrist injuries for the past year. As a result, the 28-year-old Austrian is now ranked out of the top 50.
Most recently, the former World No.3 competed at the ATP Challenger Marbella, Spain. Therein, he fell in the first round to Argentine Pedro Cachin in straight sets(3-6, 4-6).
While looking for rejuvenation, Thiem was unfortunately unable to participate in the ongoing Monte Carlo Masters 2022 due to COVID-19 contraction.
However, the good news for Thiem’s fans is that he was awarded a wildcard for the Millennium Estoril Open 2022. The ATP250 category clay-court event is scheduled to take place from 25th April to 1st May in Portugal.
