Gael Monfils has joined Rafael Nadal, Daniil Medvedev, Matteo Berrettini, and Dominic Thiem on the list of players who have missed the ongoing ATP Masters 1000 event in Monte Carlo.
The former World No.6 has begun the 2022 season with Adelaide 1 title in Australia. Later on, he competed in the Adelaide 2, Australian Open, Montpellier, Indian Wells, and Miami. Besides, the 35-year-old from France has a win-loss record of 11-5 in 2022 and is ranked No.21 in the world.
Meanwhile, Monfils’ participation in the ATP Tour has often been disrupted due to injury concerns since the beginning of the season as well. However, Gael has now announced his withdrawal from the Monte-Carlo Masters 2022 event for the same reason.
“Hi everyone, unfortunately, I have to withdraw from the Monte-Carlo tournament due to foot discomfort. The doctors advised me to take a rest so that the problem does not worsen. I plan to come back for the Madrid tournament! See you soon,” Gael Monfils wrote in his recent Twitter post.
In addition to this, Monfils has planned to resume his play at Madrid Masters 2022, which is scheduled to take place from 1st to 8th May in Spain.
