American NextGen Sebastian Korda will play his first-ever ATP Masters 1000 quarter-final against this season’s best performer, none other than Russian Andrey Rublev, at the Miami Open 2021

Korda made his ATP main draw debut at the 2018 New York Open as a wild card entrant. Afterwards, he reached his first ATP final at the 2021 Delray Beach Open a couple of months ago.

Rublev Is Probably The Hottest Player On Tour Right Now, says Sebastian Korda

Before reaching the quarterfinal, Korda earned his top-10 victory over Diego Schwartzman and a top-20 win over Fabio Fognini. However, the 20-old from Bradenton said that his showdown with No.4 seed Rublev would be another great opportunity and terrific experience for him.

“I think it will be a lot of fun. We are both big hitters, and he’s having a great season and a great whole year pretty much,” Korda stated ahead of his next match in his backyard.

On the other hand, Rublev reached this year’s fifth consecutive quarter-final in Miami. Russian already claimed this year’s first title at the Rotterdam Open last month. And, he reached the semifinals at the Qatar Open and Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championship.

The 23-year-old holds a 19-3 win-loss record in this season so far. Korda said of Rublev, “He’s probably the hottest player on tour right now, and it’s going to be another cool opportunity for me and another cool experience to play such a player like him”.

Rublev has not lost a set so far at the Rock Hard Stadium. And he defeated the former US Open champion Marin Cilic, Hungarian Marton Fucsovics, and host Tennys Sandgren in his previous rounds.
