“Was A Bit Difficult”: Casper Ruud Reveals Moments Before Facing Roger Federer

Casper Ruud had recently disclosed one of the most challenging periods in his career when he was set up a clash against none other than Roger Federer

21-years-old finished this season with his first ATP singles title and a semifinal appearance at the Masters 1000 tournament. 

However, Norwegian reminisced great matches in his professional tennis player journey in a recent conversation with The Nordic Television 2.

Casper said, “I do not remember everyone in my career. But there are some matches that stand out a bit, and that you remember extra well. Some ball exchanges, some punches here and there that you get, which you usually do not do. It is something that stands out a bit.”

Ruud especially described his first-ever meeting with 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer. 

World No.27 faced Swiss Maestro in the 2019 French Open for a last 16 place. Eventually, the legend went past the rising star in the straight sets(6-3, 6-1,7-6).   

Argentina Open champion continued, “I remember before I was going to play against Federer, so it was a bit difficult to sleep the night before. When you lie with your head on the pillow, your thoughts come.”

“They(Big 3) Look Taller Than They Might Be”: Casper Ruud

Having 57 Grand Slam titles on their names, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are Big 3 in tennis World. 

The NextGen Star Casper Ruud also had all admiration for the greatest players of tennis history Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.

Oslo’s tennis professional explained, “It was in Melbourne a few years ago, and then I remember that we sat in a large cafe where all the players sit to eat. When Federer came in, it was completely quiet, and everyone turned around. Now the legend is here.” 

In conclusion, Rome Masters semifinalist went on to say, “These three legends, they look taller than they might be. They are probably around 1.85 meters, but it may seem that they are two meters because of the respect you have for them.”
