German Dominik Koepfer entered into the third round of the French Open for the first time in his second main draw appearance. However, the 27-year-old United States resident is optimistic ahead of the Roger Federer clash on Philippe-Chatrier court.

Koepfer has been playing decently since the beginning of the season. As a result, he attained a career-high ranking of No.50 on tenth May.

In Roland Garros, German has reserved his Round of 32 seat after thrashing French Mathias Bourgue in straight sets(6-3, 6-3, 6-4) and No.30 seed Taylor Fritz of  America in four sets(6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4).

When speaking about dream matchup against Roger Federer in an interview, Koepfer said, “I’ve never played with him. I’ve never practised with him. I’m excited to be in the third round. I’m confident, and I hope I can give him trouble, whoever it is, and try to reach the round of 16 again.”

Federer Is Different From All The Other Players, Claims Dominik Koepfer

French Open third-round match will be the first meeting between Federer and Koepfer. And German also has not forgotten to shower praise on the Swiss Maestro in front of the remarkable context.

“He’s so crafty. He’s so talented. It’s amazing to watch him play. He’s different from all the other players, and I hope Roger wins just so I can say I played him. I don’t just want to play him; I want to give him a battle and maybe come out with a win somehow,” World No.59 expressed.

On the other hand, No.8 seed Roger Federer has confirmed his third round spot after dismissing Uzbek qualifier Denis Istomin and the 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic
