Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios is known for his best funny and outspoken roles in the tennis world. For these reasons, the stylish player has often been receiving praises and criticisms. However, now compatriot Alex de Minaur has described Kyrgios as “very misunderstood”.
Even though Nick Kyrgios raised a considerable fund for bushfire last year, he did not shine throughout the cut-off season. World No.47 did not attend a single event after ATP tour resumption in 2020.
A 25-years-old man from Canberra will now begin the 2021 season with a Melbourne Park 250 event, scheduled to run 1-7 February.
“Nick’s one of the nicest guys out there. He’s that person that’s always going to have your back, no matter what,” Alex de Minaur said in a recent interview with Nine Sports.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to be in Davis Cup ties with him and get to know him better and play side by side with him, and he’s one of those guys that has always had a lot of confidence in me and still has, from basically a junior, telling me to believe in myself and to go out there and take it”, Australian No.1 added.
“He’s very misunderstood, but he’s one of the nicest guys out there, and he’ll always have your back. We’re almost brothers – pretty close,” Alex praised Nick.
“I’m Looking Forward To Pushing Myself”: Alex de Minaur
On the other hand, the 19-years-old began the new year with the Antalya Open title, and he is looking forward to a great season ahead.
“I’m hoping that 2021 can be everything that 2020 wasn’t. I’m looking forward to pushing myself and 2021 to be a standout year. I’ve started well, let’s see if I can keep it going,” the World No.23 concluded.
