Amid the withdrawals, Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic has confirmed his participation at the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games. In the ATP Tour calendar, the global sports event will occur from 24th July to 1st August 2021 on the shore of the northwest Pacific Ocean.

“Cannot disappoint my little friend Koujiro. I booked my flight for Tokyo and will proudly be joining Team Serbia for the Olympics,” Djokovic said in his recent Twitter post.

“I am Very Proud To Pack For Tokyo”, says Novak Djokovic

Moreover, It will be Djokovic’s fourth appearance in the Olympic Games. Earlier, he represented his country in 2008, 2012, and 2016 editions. He notably claimed a bronze medal in the singles event at the 2008 Beijing Olympiad after defeating American James Blake.

Serb further added, “I am very proud to pack for Tokyo and join our national team in the fight for the brightest medals on the Olympic arenas. For me, the game for Serbia has always been a special joy and motivation, and I will do my best to make us all happy! Let’s go.”

However, several Novak Djokovic fans have been sending wishes to him. At the same time, some have been worrying about his overall health because of his tight schedules.

In addition to this, Serbian is in the race to become the first male player to complete the Golden Slam(four Grand Slam plus Olympic singles gold medal).

Notably, the former German professional Steffi Graf has won all four Grand Slam titles and Olympic singles gold medal in 1988.

World No.1 Novak Djokovic has already won the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon this year. He also joined Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the 20 singles Grand Slam winners list.

In the end, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem will not play at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
