“It’s Never Easy”: Stefanos Tsitsipas Talks Ahead of Alexander Zverev Clash at ATP Acapulco Open 2021

No.1 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas has confirmed his final spot for the first appearance at the Acapulco Open. However, the Greek admits that beating his rival Alexander Zverev is not a piece of cake at the championship match. 

In just 79 minutes of the semi-final encounter, Tsitsipas crashed Italian qualifier Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets(6-1, 6-3). At the post-match interview, Tsitsipas said that he was delighted by Acapulco devoted tennis fans. 

World No.5 further added, “Matches like this are really important, and I’m happy to be playing well. Acapulco has been treating me really well, and the fans have been giving me love and support.”

“We’ll Definitely See A Lot From Lorenzo In The Future”, says Tsitsipas 

The three-time Grand Slam semi-finalist did not forget to praise his previous match opponent Lorenzo Musetti. Notably, the 19-years-old NextGen played his first-ever ATP 500 semifinal this week and will make his top 100 debut next week.  

“We’ll definitely see a lot from Lorenzo in the future. He has a wonderful one-handed backhand and creates lots of opportunities. He showed his level this week,” Tsitsipas expressed.

The two elite players will now battle for the first title of the season. Tsitisipas leads Zverev 5-1 in their head-to-head record, while Greek especially defeated German in the last five encounters.

When speaking ahead of the championship match, Tsitsipas said, “I am really looking forward to the final. Sascha is someone I’ve played against in the past, and it’s never easy. We’re both starving, and we’re both very competitive.”


No.2 seed Alexander Zverev powered past his countryman Dominik Koepfer without dropping a set before reaching his second final in Acapulco.
