“At the moment, I’m Not Going To The US Open”- Simona Halep Raises Doubt About Her Participation

While the USTA has announced this year’s participant list along with Simona Halep’s name, Besides, Romanian says right now, She is not willing to travel to the United States. 

Followed by almost six months of break, Halep makes her comeback at Prague Open in the Czech Republic. For this reason, She left today for Prague from Romania.

The WTA tournament is scheduled from 10th August to 16th August. On the way to Czech, Simona Halep said at the airport that if the current situation will be continued for upcoming days she will not participate in the US Open 2020.

“I Really Missed Tennis”- Simona Halep

After Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships, Simona did not participate in tennis tours due to a right leg injury and Coronavirus concerns. Recently, Simona Halep was planned to play at Palermo Ladies Open, but in the last time she pulled out from the tour due to the Coronavirus outbreaks in Romania. Eventually, She resumes her tennis tour at Prague Open doubles event this month.

World number two said at the airport interview for her participation in New York, “At the moment, I’m not going to the US Open. It’s been a strange year, we have to get used to it. I really missed tennis, that’s why I signed up for the doubles event in Prague.”

While Romanian would like to win a hard-court Grand Slam title, the Coronavirus puts a barrier for her to travel to the United States.  

If Simona Halep will be confirmed her participation in the US Open, She will lead the tournament on the women’s side. For the reason, World number one Ashleigh Barty withdrew from this year’s event due to the same travel reasons.

Moreover, The US Open will take place from 31ts August to 13th September in Flushing Meadows, New York.
